Happy Hump Day!

I didn’t really have anything in particular to blog about today, then while I was leaving comments on other blogs, a few topics came to mind. This will be totally random today.

I’m addicted to the Africam! Mini originally posted about it and now Mr. Jones has it up all the time here. The bird sounds are rather soothing. Maybe I should get one of those sleep machines.

Moving on…

Brownie figured he wasn’t becoming an alcoholic quickly enough, so he’s now working in a liquor store part time. Which led me to wonder, what are the liquor laws like in your state/country? Here in PA, we have liquor stores that sell liquor and wine, and then state stores that sell beer. But, only by the case. No- you can’t mix cases. Both stores are run by the state. Just last year they finally allowed Sunday beer sales and a few liquor stores around the state have Sunday hours as well. You can buy a six-pack of beer from a bar, but it can be kind of pricey. No alcohol is sold in grocery stores or gas stations. Also, if you want a wine that your store doesn’t carry, you have to order it through the liquor store and then pay all kinds of taxes on it. I’m pretty sure you can’t buy wine or liquor over the internet, but I believe some law-makers are trying to change that.

Oh, does anyone know if Meatgazer moved her blog? I knew she hadn’t updated it recently, but when I clicked the link in my sidebar, I was directed to a porn site! Definitely NOT work safe. Click on at your own risk…

I have a midterm tomorrow, so I should get my crap at work finished an then study some more. I’m so glad the term is almost over!

  1. Now that’s a great idea—-buying six packs at a bar! Over here, they just started opening liquor stores on Sundays–THANK GAWD! But, this has to be separated—beer can only be sold in grocery stores and beer & soda discount shops. You cannot buy wine in a grocery store, but in NJ, you can. Weird, right?

  2. Good luck on the mid term

  3. In Oregon, you can buy wine, beer and “malt beverages” – aka wine coolers, ect – in grocery stores and convenience stores, 24/7. You can only buy hard liquor in liquor stores. Some of them are open on Sunday, but that’s unusual.

In California, I seem to remember buying hard liquor in grocery stores, but it’s been a long time and I didn’t really drink much back then.

p.s. Congrats on booting Santorum. Good riddance!

  4. In Colorado, you can buy liquor and beer at booze emporiums like I work at. You can buy beer and wine at gas stations. You can buy beer at grocery stores, but it’s 3.2 brew so nobody does that. Much easier to acquire hooch here than in PA.

  5. That wierded me out when I was in TN – having to go to different stores to by wine, beer and whiskey

  6. ~Deb- there’s a lot of things about NJ that I think are weird!

    Kristen- Thanks!

    MS- Good riddance indeed!

Brownie- It would be nice if PA got with the rest of the country.

SJ- Yeah, each state is different!

  7. PA sounds like a pain in the arse when is comes to buying alcohol!

  8. When I lived in Missouri and worked at a grocery store, we sold hard liquor at the store..yep, you could buy Everclear and toilet paper at the same place. But no liquor or beer on Sundays anywhere unless you went to a bar which none were open where I lived. Only place in town you could drink on a Sunday was the bowling alley. I get to Texas and you have to go to a liquor store for liquor. Only beer and wine in grocery stores.

  9. Hey,nice blog!!! I found a place where you can make an extra $800 or more a month. I do it part time and make a lot more than that. It is definitely worth a visit! You can do it in your spare time and make good cash. Make Extra Cash
