Christmas Stuff

I meant to post this the other day, but that didn’t quite happen. We went out to a tree farm and cut down our own tree this year. Well, the hubby cut it down, but I supervised! Anyway, here’s the Douglas Fir that we got…

We didn’t decorate much, but here’s some stuff on our new buffet:

When I was younger, my mom used to buy me and my brother an ornament every year that would signify something that we did or we were into that year. When I got my house, she gave me all my ornaments. I like the idea of ornaments having meaning, so I try to only put certain ones on my tree. Here’s a sampling:

(The first two should be obvious)

I don’t remember when I got this, but my name is engraved in it.

My MIL bought this for the hubby one year. He’s quite the handyman!

I got this from a woman I used to babysit for. She loves to collect Disney stuff, and I do too.

This came from my mom. When I was in high school, we did the play “Winnie the Pooh”, and I was Kanga.

My Aunt and Uncle bought this for us the first year we had out house. You can stick one of the Christmas lights in it and it lights up. The funny thing is, we didn’t even have a tree that year!

This one lights up too, but I don’t remember the significance.

I used to ride my bike a lot. I think this came from my mom, too. All the pieces move!

This is Gunner. We don’t have him anymore, but we bought this ornament for his first Christmas.

Finally, this is the ornament that we bought this year, since we went to the Army/Navy game.

  9. Most of my ornaments have meaning too. I didn’t think to take pictures of specific ones. The tree is still up so I guess I still have time.

Hope you had a nice Christmas!

  10. Where did you get your tree from? My partner told me how when she was growing up, her family would all go out into a tree farm and cut their own tree down, which I’d never heard of before. I think my exact quote after hearing that was, “What, are you from 1840 or something?”

You mentioning cutting the tree, though, made me think of it!

  11. Frank- We went out to Hozak Farms. It’s about 10 miles west of the airport. Great place! I’m sure we’ll go back every year now.
